Initial 2014 MerleFest lineup announced

The initial lineup for the 2014 MerleFest has been announced. Taking place on the campus of Wilkes Community College in Wilkesboro, N.C., the performers include country singer Alan Jackson, bluegrass icon Dr. Ralph Stanley, Keller Williams with the Travelin' McCourys, the Carolina Chocolate Drops and Charlotte's Overmountain Men.

Among the other acts announced are: Richard Watson; Dailey and Vincent Quartet with Jimmy Fortune; Tim O'Brien and Darrell Scott; The Steep Canyon Rangers; The Waybacks; Balsam Range; Alison Brown Quartet; Sam Bush Band; Peter Rowan; Della Mae; Donna the Buffalo; Jerry Douglas; The Duhks; Jim Lauderdale; Larry Keel and Natural Bridge; Scythian; Junior Sisk and Ramblers Choice; The Kruger Brothers; Lonesome River Band; The Steel Wheels; The Claire Lynch Band; Town Mountain; Todd Snider; Mandolin Orange; Rory Block; Roy Book Binder; Fiona Boyes; Darin and Brooke Aldridge; Shannon Whitworth; Nashville Bluegrass Band; Missy Raines and The New Hip; Nora Jane Struthers and The Party Line; WBT Briarhoppers; Time Sawyer; Mountain Feist and many more.

Tickets go on sale on Tuesday, Nov. 12, at 2 p.m. via www.merlefest.org or by calling 800-343-7857. More than 130 acts will perform on 13 stages during the course of the event.
