First Drip (7/16/14): Greg Hardy files appeal, Ku Klux Klan offers candy as recruitment tactic, more

Carolina Panthers defensive end Greg Hardy immediately filed an appeal after being found guilty of two misdemeanor charges in relation to assaulting his former girlfriend. The appeal entitles him to a jury trial. The judge at Tuesday's hearing sentenced Hardy, who signed a one-year contract with the Panthers earlier this year, to a 60-day suspended sentence and 18 months of probation.

Residents in the town of Seneca, S.C., found bags of candy on their doorsteps over the weekend with a piece of paper asking them to join the Ku Klux Klan. The paper said, "Save Our Land, Join the Klan." Not surprisingly, the residents aren't happy.

Hillary Clinton hinted to a potential presidential run on Tuesday night's episode of the Daily Show. Clinton told host Jon Stewart that she wanted a home office with "fewer corners." Oval, perhaps?

Israel's foreign minister is calling for a ground campaign in Gaza to help quell rocket fire in the area. Meanwhile, foreign diplomats are converging in the area for talks to resolve the crisis. More than 200 Palestinians have been killed so far as the offensive enters its ninth day.
