First Drip First Drip (10/2/14): State reconsiders grading scale for high schoolers, Secret Service leader out, more

North Carolina is reconsidering the way it grades high school students. Today the state Board of Education will decide whether to go from a 7-point grading scale to a 10-point grading scale. Supporters say it will simplify things and "level the playing field" in college applications. Opponents wonder if it would lower standards.
Some students at Myers Park High School got the surprise of their lives when a man allegedly exposed himself to them while the girls were running on trails around the school. CMPD is investigating.
The first female leader of the Secret Service quit yesterday after a year on the job. President Obama publicly supported Julia Pierson, 55, the day before her resignation, despite several embarrassing and dangerous gaffes by the agency including agents allowing a man to run into the White House. Obama had a change of heart, apparently, after he learned that a private security guard with a criminal history and weapon was allowed to board an elevator with him in Atlanta.
Another day, another professional sports player being accused of sexual assault. Police in Texasare investigating Dallas Cowboys special teams player C.J. Spillman, who is being accused of sexually assaulting a woman at the team's hotel a day before a game (that Spillman played). The alleged assault came a day after NFL Commissioner Ray Goodell's super awkward press conference calling for reform in the NFL.
The Ebola scare continues. The family of a man in Dallas who was diagnosed with the disease has been ordered to stay home.
