Cheap list: Parade of Beads, Vietnamese Fest, more

Going out in Charlotte doesn't have to be expensive. In fact, to prove that statement, we've compiled a list of cheap - $10 or less - things to do in the Q.C. this weekend. These events may vary, but they're all entertaining and they won't break your bank (piggy banks excluded).

Parade of Beads at EpiCentre EpiCentre goes Cajun-style with a parade that features street performers and costumes. Participating venues stick to the Mardi Gras theme, offering New Orleans staple drinks, Hurricanes. There will also be live music and a DJ. Free admission; $15 VIP tickets include a T-shirt, a Hurricane cup and beads. Feb. 13, 7 p.m. EpiCentre, 210 E. Trade St. www.charlottemardigras.com.

Anniversay Party at Prohibition The bar/club is celebrating four years tonight with drink specials that include $4 "u-call-its" There's also a money machine that four lucky winners will get to enter. Feb. 13, 9 p.m. Prohibition, 200 N. Tryon St. www.prohibitionclt.com.

Sacred Doorways Artist Reception at Yoga for Life Following a deep stretch class at 6 p.m., the yoga studio transforms into an art exhibit with artist Lynne Dulken's original alcohol ink paintings on Yupo, tile, and canvas. Lynne will also speak about her creative process. $10. Feb. 13, 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Yoga for Life, 1410 W. Morehead St., Suite 200. www.yogaforlifecharlotte.com.

2015 Vietnamese Tet Festival at Grady Cole Center Much like the Chinese New Year, Tet — a short and sweet name for the Vietnamese New Year — celebrates the arrival of spring. Sure, it’s still the heart of winter here in the Q.C., but here we’ll find the extra warmth of vermicelli noodle soup to keep us cozy. But Tet festivities include more than food. Dancing, music, games, cultural displays and a beauty contest are also in the mix. $3. Feb. 15, 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Grady Cole Center, 310 N. Kings Drive.
