First Drip (5/11/15): Suit against Duke Energy, Chris Christie's big appetite, more

News came out late Friday evening that a Duke Energy shareholder is trying to do the right thing. Judy Mesirov of Philadelphia filed a suit against the company for allegedly exerting influence over state regulators, specifically the Department of Energy and Natural Resources. The filing is sealed, but one document that is not stated Duke “consciously and routinely endangered the lives and health of the public, wildlife and vegetation by exposing them to carcinogens and by polluting North Carolina’s and Virginia’s environment.”

UNC-Chapel Hill has teamed up with a drug company to find a cure to AIDS.

A touchy subject, that Affordable Health Care Act. According to a new poll, only 1 in 10 people feel the Supreme Court justices, who are hearing a case questioning the legality of Obamacare, are capable of making a decision based on "objective interpretations of the law rather than their personal opinions."

I thought Gov. Chris Christie was trying to lose weight? New Jersey Watchdog analyzed the New Jersey governor's expenditures and found that "Christie spent $360,000 from his state allowance during his five years in office. More than 80 percent of that money, or $300,000, was used to buy food, alcohol and desserts."
