According to tweets from the Charlotte Fire Department this morning, firefighters took part in a "high angle rescue" this morning at a construction site on Wilkinson Boulevard just after 9:30 a.m. A series of tweets stated that 18 firefighters took about 30 minutes to rescue a patient from the roof of the site, suspending the patient on a gurney from a truck's ladder.

Pictures of a car that was left suspended from power lines following a crash near Uptown this morning have been making the rounds on Charlotte Twitter. A white Lexus SUV apparently drove up a power pole and became stuck at around 7:45 a.m. Police believe a mechanical failure in the car may have played a role and the driver will not be cited. He reportedly climbed into the backseat following the wreck and waited for first responders, who helped him out. The driver was not seriously hurt.

Novant Health has proposed a rule change in which pit bulls will be banned from serving as therapy dogs that visit sick patients due to their negative public image. The dogs were originally bred to fight and still are in some cases, as was seen in the raid of a dog-fighting operation in Huntersville last week, but supporters say their behavior is related solely on their training and experiences. Novant employees have had the opportunity to comment on the proposed change and a decision is expected within the month.

The number of deaths resulting from the flooding in South Carolina over the weekend grew by two to 17 yesterday, officials said. According to the most recent update, released this morning, there are still 267 roads and 137 bridges closed throughout the state. The National Guard has deployed 2,800 soldiers and airmen throughout South Carolina, and 16,900 people have registered for aid from FEMA.

Two companies have announced product recalls this morning after one product was said to be mislabeled and another carries a potential for bacterial contamination. Trader Joe's said the company's Coconut Cranberry Granola may contains ingredients such as pecans that were not listed on the ingredients and could cause severe allergic reactions in some people. All boxed marked with a "Best By 8/19/16" label were reportedly accidentally filled with Pecan Praline Granola. In an unrelated call, General Mills is recalling 16-ounce bags of frozen Cascadian Farm Cut Green Beans with a "Better If Used By Label" reading "29JUN2017."
