A fire that occurred in the early hours this morning displaced 15 residents of an apartment complex in Dilworth. The two-alarm blaze is said to have been started by an electrical wiring malfunction. Nine units were damaged, and six people were affected by the fire, with three being treated by Medic on scene. The fire did about $250,000 in damage. (Fox46 Staff)

A car caught on fire on I-77 north of Charlotte today, shutting down part of the interstate near Exit 36 in Moorseville. Police have not released any info about what caused the accident or whether anyone was injured. (WBTV Web Staff)

Other wrecks that snarled traffic in the Charlotte area this morning included one on southbound I-85 near Freedom Drive. It happened at 8:50 a.m. and is expected to have been cleared already. Almost simultaneous to that wreck, someone also wrecked their car on southbound I-77 near Nations Ford Road, blocking the right lane. (Joe Marusak, Charlotte Observer)

Prosecutors told a judge in Gastonia yesterday that Amoritta Costner, found dead in the bathtub of her home last week, was stabbed 30 times, allegedly by her boyfriend Eduardo Rojas. The judge handed down a $2 million bond for Rojas and prosecutors plan to bring the case in front of a grand jury as soon as possible. (Ken Lemon, WSOC)

Law enforcement is still searching for a young girl and the uncle who took her away from school under false pretenses last week in Tennessee. Police issued an Amber Alert for nine-year-old Carlie Marie Trent last Thursday, the day after her uncle, Gary Simpson, removed her from school. A video of the man at a Walmart in Rogersville, Tennessee after the abduction shows him buying camping supplies. Anyone with information about the missing pair are asked to call the Tennessee Bureau of Investigations at 1-800-TBI-FIND. (WCNC Staff)
