There were no serious injuries in a wreck involving an ambulance near Queens University this morning. The wreck happened at around 9:45 a.m. this morning on Queens Road W at Selwyn Avenue and took down power lines. No word yet on what caused the accident. (WBTV Web Staff)

According to a CMPD report released this morning, the man struck by a vehicle on Monroe Road in mid-April died of the resulting injuries yesterday. Police said 58-year-old Wayne Ivey was crossing Monroe Road in an area without a marked crosswalk on the afternoon of April 19 when he was struck by a woman driving a Chevrolet Trailblazer. Speed and alcohol abuse were not factors in the use. (Ryan Pitkin)

Snakes season has arrived north of Charlotte apparently, as two incidents made clear yesterday afternoon. A 12-year-old Mooresville boy is recovering in the hospital after reportedly being bitten by a venomous snake while digging for worms near a Lake Norman dock. (Jenna Deery, WSOC) Meanwhile in Denver, a man was bit by a four-and-a-half-foot-long copperhead while shopping in the gardening department of Lowe's yesterday afternoon. (WSOC Staff)
