A man was arrested this morning after crashing his three-wheel motorcycle on Independence Boulevard, killing his female passenger. Police say William Short had been drinking before riding his motorcycle eastbound on Independence Boulevard at high rates of speed with 34-year-old Traci Gagnon riding as passenger. Just before 2:30 a.m., Short's motorcycle struck an unknown, dark-colored vehicle in the back near the intersection of Charlottetown Avenue, ejecting him and Gagnon. Gagnon was pronounced deceased on the scene. Short was treated for non-life threatening injuries, and upon his release from the hospital he was arrested and charged with involuntary manslaughter, felony death by motor vehicle, driving while impaired and no motorcycle endorsement. Police also believe another motorcycle was speeding alongside Short, but the driver did not remain on the scene after the crash. (Ryan Pitkin)
