Now Showing: Best of Charlotte's CITY LIFE readers ballot

Posted By on Mon, Jun 24, 2013 at 12:25 PM

BESTOFCHLTFINALSTICKER.jpg

Last year, our readers chose Carolina Panthers player Cam Newton as the city's local hero. Perhaps rightfully so, since the Panthers left the 2012 season at 7-9. (A vast improvement from pre-Newton 2010, when they only won two games - look at me, writing about sports, like I know what I'm talking about.) This year, though, Newton's turning some of his attention to clothes. Will that hurt his chances at winning the Local Hero category again?

Other readers' picks from 2012 include Anthony Foxx for Best Member of Local Government (who's about to leave us for D.C.) and Plaza Midwood for Best Place to Live in Charlotte (I won't mention the Thirsty-Beaver-getting-squeezed-out thing .. OK, I will).

Well, despite all that, it's time again for you, dear readers, to cast your votes in CL's annual Best of Charlotte ballot. From now through July 7 midnight, our CITY LIFE category will be live for you to access. Choose your favorite people, places and things that reflect the best of what the Queen City has to offer.

VOTE NOW.

PS: Save the date, folks. CL's annual Best of Charlotte issue will hit stands on Oct. 3. And ... (insert dramatic pause for effect)... there will be a party.

Time to VOTE for Best of Charlotte 2012

Posted By on Fri, Jul 27, 2012 at 12:05 PM

It's coming ... slowly, but surely. Creative Loafing's annual Best of Charlotte issue is creeping up on us. *Cue ominous music in the background*

To make sure this 25th go-round is as impressive as the previous 24, we're once again asking you, our dear readers, to take the time to make your voices known on what you believe to be the most — and, in some instances, least — memorable people, places and things in Charlotte.

Sure, you've got other things to worry about: Michael Jackson's mom just lost custody of the kids to Tito's son; Kristin Stewart cheated on vampire-sexy Robert Pattinson; the end of the world is coming in only a few months.

It's a scary task, we know. But you don't want Waffle House to win the category for Best Breakfast, do you?

Head over to our online ballot and cast your votes. Time is ticking!

If you're a regular visitor to our wonderful website — Clclt.com — you may have noticed that everything looks totally different. Well, your eyes aren't playing tricks on you. We've got a brand-new website.

Boo-ya.

And along with the new look, comes tons of new functionality. For example, our event listings now feature and ass-load of integration, blending in content like reviews, related locations and more. So, please go ahead and look around.

While you're looking around all the newness, you will undoubtedly see several glitches, malfunctions, broken links and missing content. (Hey, it happens.) That said, help us out: If you see any problems, leave a comment (under this post) or e-mail us at backtalk@creativeloafing.com and let us know.

Anyway, thanks for visiting the new digs. Let's hope this transition to a brave new world doesn't involve too many hiccups.
