10-in-10 CD reviews

Posted By on Fri, Apr 23, 2010 at 10:52 AM

Each Friday, we review 10 recently released CDs in 10 words each:

The Radio Dept. Clinging to a Scheme — Swedish band’s brand of indie pop is better than expected.

Shortstack Please Leave My Mind — Band’s third album full of gritty, Americana-infused rock tunes.

The Service Industry Calm Down — Austin band’s fourth album has plenty of mediocre pop rock.

Pinata Protest Plethora — Band combines accordian, punk rock… probably not a good idea.

The Julien Kasper Band Trance Groove — Guitarist gets jazzy and funky on his third instrumental album.

Roky Erickson True Love Cast Out All Evil — First album in 14 years; teams up with Okkervil River.

Johnny Lang Live at the Ryman — His first live album showcases all sides of guitarist’s music.

Beneath Me Wish I Wouldn’t Care — Chicago band attempts to break new ground in metal genre.

Glee The Power of Madonna — More “cover songs” from TV show focus solely on Madonna.

AC/DC Iron Man 2 Soundtrack — Album is comprised of 15 classic songs, nothing new here.
