Field Mouse brings lush indie-pop sounds tonight (8/7/11)

Field Mouse Billed as (yet another) indie band from Brooklyn, the music of Rachel Browne and Andrew Futral stands out from the overrun-by-hipsters borough by actually embracing — without any irony, apparently — trad pop melodies and song structures. Their pleasant-enough debut, You Are Here, pairs those lush pop elements — highlighted by Browne’s dreamy voice — with layers of reverb and the occasional orchestral flourish. They may name-check My Bloody Valentine, Built to Spill and the Breeders in the bio, but there’s more Belle & Sebastian and Innocence Mission in these songs than they let on. With Lost in a World of Color and Avian Law. $6-$7. The Milestone. www.themilestoneclub.com.
