Re: “Woodlands Offers Indian Vegan and Vegetarian in East Charlotte Strip Mall

I am a lacto-vegetarian.Will Woodlands in the future ever offer an "all-you-can-eat" buffet for lunch? My deal here is that I do not know what all of the vegetarian dishes are (being an American), and so I don't know how to order Indian food. However, with an Indian buffet, I can pick and choose, and thereby learn what is what.

Re: “Here's to Dominica

Seriously? Dominica and Dominican Republic are 2 DIFFERENT COUNTRIES!!! This article is about Dominica so any reference to DR should be changed. There are also no Dominican restaurants in Charlotte, only those from DR, which is Spanish food. You should also fact check before posting something like this as there is power in the hospital now and that Cacao Tea recipe is severely lacking. Do better CL!

Re: “Here's to Dominica

Dominica and the Dominican Republic are two different countries. DOMINICA pronounced Domineeka 'The Nature Isle' was completely destroyed by Irma. Not sure why you have a list of Dominican restaurants in this article

Re: “A Mexican-Cuban Goes Home to an Authentic Meal

Ok, you're probably new at this. But next time, if you're going to spend about 75% of the article telling readers how much of an expert you are at a particular cuisine, could you say something a little more specific about the food than it's "impeccable," "perfect," "delightful," etc.?
Tell us why it's all those things. Give us some kind of insight into the flavors, the types of spices and seasonings used, the kinds of flavor combinations that make it so impeccable. We don't need to be told that tacos have lettuce, tomato and ground beef. In fact, why would you order tacos in the first place? We've all had tacos.
Order something else, something that might set the restaurant apart from others, something local Latinos might order. Then tell us how it's presented. Then tell us what it tastes like, what makes it different or unique, why it might be good or bad, what kind of cooking techniques might have been used. Give us more detail.

Re: “Sly and simple: Leroy Fox

Tonight I ordered take out. When I went to pick up the person be hind the bar, Ryan handed me a bag of food that was not my order. When I got home I realized Ryan had given me the wrong food. So I called the restaurant and told the lady that answered that they had given me the wrong food. The manager Luke gets on the phone and immediately tells me that I had grabbed the wrong bag. I tell him that I did not grab anything that Luke handed me the wrong order. Then Luke proceeds to say he wants to make it right. So I am thinking at least he is being descent about it. Well I get to the restaurant and Ryan literally grabs the bag from me and gets the correct bag and shoves it into my hands without saying one word. I am like so shocked at his rudeness. I go to the other end of the bar and ask another server about who the manager is. He points out Luke. So I approach Luke and tell him my experience I have just described and I say what the f... and he says you have cussed so I cannot help you.
This restaurant will not make it. I intend on making this ridiculous experience as public as possible. I am a general contractor and have many clients that own restaurants and they would never support such poor customer service. Jenny

There is another group with a store up and running in Philadelphia, and in the Dakotas
Also one starting in Waco Texas
Charlotte needs this bad on the Westside, I hope they make it

Re: “Rock and Rye knocks colds out

As a child I had asthma and bronchitis all the time and when it was really bad my mom would heat up rock and rye until it was really hot and would pour it into a shot glass and make me drink it. I would cry and it would burn going down but it would loosen up all the yucky flemm. Even now and then I buy a bottle of R&R and think about mom.

Re: “Woodlands Offers Indian Vegan and Vegetarian in East Charlotte Strip Mall

In fact, Jason, I am one of those people who lives right near Woodlands. If you are one of those people, too, then we're neighbors! :)
I'm sorry my discussion of the location came off to you as kvetching; actually, I was letting the vast majority of Charlotteans (not just people who live uptown) who don't live in my area of East Charlotte know that although Woodlands may be farther away than most restaurants, the food is worth the drive. Clearly, that's not an issue for me (I can walk to Woodlands), but for those folks who live in almost any other area of Charlotte, it *is* an issue.
But you're absolutely right: I could have spent more space describing the food.
Thanks for writing.
