Re: “Why do people hate Dave Matthews?

I wouldn't say I hate him, but didn't he originally want to name his band "The Lazy Eights", but then found out it was taken by a band way better than his

Re: “CMPD Releases Footage of Officers Fatally Shooting Ruben Galindo

His name is spelled RUBEN Galindo. Every news outlet keeps misspelling it.

Re: “Why do people hate Dave Matthews?

I hate it when any band tries to rekindle the peace and love era.REM is another band i loathe mostly because of their horrific song about shiny people.oh brother, give it up already.they missed the psychedelic bus!Its long gone but thank goodness we still have so many real great music.its most likely great because it truly came from their souls...even if drug induced ,the songs were created magnificently.

Re: “Why do people hate Dave Matthews?

Their music is played at work over and over again and its so poisonous to my ears.i find myself constantly talking to myself about how any given one of their songs annoys me so much. For example: that stupid song thats most likely meant to be deep.is anything but that to me.They cant fool my good taste in music.its the dumb song about "fathers be good to your daufhters"...all i say to it is, what a ridiculous shallow attempt at trying to be deep by singing about the daughters becoming "lovers" ....Thanks Dave for reminding all the fathers that their daughters are having sex...then becoming mother's....all the great music has been done.very hard to beat.this band in my opinion just doesnt cut it with any of their songs.but they arent the only ones.>(

Re: “Why do people hate Dave Matthews?

I just think their music stinks..and is so boring.i agree with the person on here that wrote something about the band trying to make songs similar to the hippy era...and they just dont have what it takes.i dont loathe the band members. I just loathe their very shitty music.

Re: “Question the Queen City: The Tryon House

I worked in maintainance at the Tryon House in the mid 90's. I have been all througout this building, and yes i heard many many stories of ghost. I myself have never seen any evidance of ghost, but have spoken to residents who truely believe the saw ghost. The Lawing family, who own the building were always kind and honest to me, hey are great people.
I have been all through the basement of this building, and have viewed the burnt brickwork from that historic fire. I recently revisited the building (which i haven't seen in 20 years), and seeing her still standing brought a smile to my face. She has stood the test of time, and is a major part of Charlotte's history.
P.S.
To The lawing family, Tommy jr, Sr, Bobby, and Annete, I want to say, Thank you for making my life better.

Re: “Five Names For Your Irish Pub That Aren't Milestone

Jayzus, such a fuss over a pub name. Now I hope he keeps it just to piss everyone off. That's about the punkest thing you can possibly do.

Re: “Question the Queen City: Pinewood Cemetery

George W. Miller was very likely the half brother of R.M. Miller Jr., and a son of R.M. Miller. Census records list him as "mulatto", and he came to Charlotte with the Miller family in 1866. He was president of the Neptune Volunteer Fire Company, which was housed in quarters owned and operated by R.M. Miller SR. He was known by some as NEPTUNE GEORGE. As R.M. Miller JR was associated with D.A. Tompkins, I can only imagine his unfortunate reluctance to acknowledge their kinship.

Re: “Five Names For Your Irish Pub That Aren't Milestone

When I moved here from NY, and opened my first Queen City establishment, we actually had to submit our future restaurant's name to discover other businesses with the same name, obviously we wanted to insure there was no other local biz DBA as Lulu.. has he NOT done this, or did he just go, "fuhgidabowdit?"
It's a bad look, but unfortunately? The Chads of Dilworth and other condhole dwellers won't care either. Great article, Erin, unfortunate it had to be written.

Re: “Five Names For Your Irish Pub That Aren't Milestone

Man it seems like I grew up at the milestone, mainly because they were a bit lax on carding people back in the day (1970s) In high school we would go hang out there every week . ... if we couldn't get in we just sat in the parking lot gettin high and listening to the bands. I saw RHCP when they were still a punk band, I saw R.E.M and the B-52s before they broke big. Hat's off to Bill Flowers . ... the Milestone is a cultural landmark every bit as valid as CBGB . .... and no, you can't use the name for your new yuppie bar I only wish GG Allin were still alive so he could go take a shit on top of the bar in your new "pub" jus sayin
