Thanks for the article. As a former police officer(Not CMPD) I always found it baffling that departments let rumors fester. I know it's nothing more than their fear of lawsuits but I'd rather them admit their wrong doing and pay out than create fear and distrust of officers everywhere...

Wow Mike, you like sitting in traffic! I think that the NCDOT gives out an award for that. You might wanna go to the DMV and see if yours is ready. Personally, when I go up 95 to Philly, I use every toll road they have. It saves tons of time and in my business time is money and my time is worth more than 18 bucks. "I think privatizing public roads is a bad idea. The seller gets a 1 time lump sum while the buyer gets profits forever(ka ching)." You have obviously never sold a business.
Sound to me that she's not biased at all. If this goes through it will effectively destroy any third parties chances of staying on the ballot at all. So when the dems go neo-con/tax and spend on you, you might be just as screwed as the republicans...
Tara, just make sure you keep a copy of this article to forward to City Council when they act shocked next year. Just like I hope you did when they feigned shock at the cost overruns a year or so after you told them it was going to happen.
It's about time someone put a little sense into this matter. A no chase policy is nothing more than a get out of jail free card. It entices criminals to operate their vehicles in a manner that is reckless and insane, not because they are fleeing, but because they think that by doing so they can force the police to terminate the pursuit. Oh, and the criminals who run from officers don't magically slow down when they see the lights go off. They keep up their reckless driving for a few miles. While on the job I came upon many would-be getaway drivers who wrecked their vehicles five minutes after we stopped chasing them.
First of all I have to agree with the prosecutor. On average most of those people they take to trial are guilty. Don't confuse Mike Nifong with the rest of the Courts system. He was up for re-election and wanted Al and Jesse behind him. And every DA knows what Al Sharpton is capable of doing to those who dont back his horse. (See Dutchess County Assistant District Attorney Steven Pagones/Tawana Brawley Case) Secondly, we are also forgetting that most prosecutors just deal the case away in the first place. So we are talking about 2-4% of the overall cases in Meck County even going to a jury trial. In Cabarrus County for instance, they only run 2 weeks of jury trials per YEAR. Simply because they can't afford any more. Open disclosure is a problem but only if they don't deal you to a favorable crime or dismiss it all together. Lets focus on getting more people in front of there constitutional "jury of their peers" before we start arguing over the semantics of what one attorney is supposed to share with the other.
