Re: “Greed seen as the church's top problem — so why isn't Elevation angrier at pastor's excess?

Great article Erin! It baffles me how vocal Christian leaders can be when it comes to issues like gay marriage, abortion, etc. but when it comes to money... mum's the word. Jesus was unequivocally clear regarding his feelings about the rich. Why do so many Christians continue to ignore those parts of the Bible?

Re: “The perils of being alone

Patrice, thank you so much for your comment. I know that my experience of going out alone a few times does not compare to what it's like to be truly alone. But it did make me understand it a little bit better. I used to think that it was so easy to go out and make friends -- you just needed to "put yourself out there." This experience definitely taught me that it's not that simple.

Re: “Kermit Gosnell used by both sides of abortion debate

Carlos: Glad you enjoyed the article. And I agree, the pro-life movement should extend beyond the womb.

Me: I think I did a pretty good job of condemning Gosnell when I called his acts horrendous, repulsive and even questioned his humanity. If I focused a bit more on the Christian right's stance on abortion it's because, as a Christian, I feel frustrated at how reductive its position is. There are more effective ways to prevent abortions than by overturning Roe v. Wade, but the Christian right has chosen to ignore them. As I said in the article, I think there's a more sensible middle ground both sides of the debate should move toward.

Re: “Questions about disability

Thank you so much for your thorough and thoughtful comment msmelrichard! I especially liked what you said about how we'd view these individuals if society didn't dictate that they were disabled. It's given me a lot to think about. Thanks again!

Re: “Conversations (not) about race

DLP, I think you are right in part...but do you think the confrontation would've happened if Trayvon had been white?

Re: “Residents weigh in on final stages of Blue Line extension, including art projects

The last stop on the current Lynx line is Seventh Street. The first stop on the Blue Line Extension will be 9th street.

Re: “Race consultant should come to CMS

While it's true that I can't guarantee my kid will be a good student, I can assure you that I will be an involved parent who will do anything in my power to make sure he performs well and his school improves. Parental involvement is key to the success of a school.
