So proud to know this profound and talented man!
I agree totally, Mr Easley. I wont support a movie that pimps out our culture for a dollar. Too often today's rap artists turn out soulless offerings that dehumanize and over-sexualize our women and depict our men as thugs.
Meanwhile the rap stars take their dirty profits to gated communities leaving the "real thugs" and "thugettes" to live and die in their crime ridden and decaying communities.
I can go a long way with artistic expression. But sadly, rap music is too often nothing more than a lewd catchy phase and a decent beat .
Rap musicians can do better. Black America should demand better.
Happens all the time.
And did you see Samuel L Jackson go OFF on entertainment reporter, Sam Rubin, after Rubin mistook him as Lawrence Fishburne...http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/tv/sh…
Excellent column, Charles.
It is so sad that African American men are presumed guilty of unspecified crimes by police and other citizens. I do believe that some of our men have given the rest of us a bad reputation and we should do more to call them out and demand they be accountable for following the laws we all have to follow.
Having said that, this case is another example of an innocent black man being senselessly killed. And the sad part is that so many of us are becoming desensitized to these killings.
Great column, Sir.
Daisean Mills, I like your attitude, brother!
How about rude and weird. Anyone raised with rudimentary social skills knows it is rude to intrude at a public dining table without introduction or so much as a "May I join you."
Then to refuse to acknowledge the effort of your sister is beyond rude.
Rude guy.
Great column.
