I'm so glad for you that your mother didn't choose to maim you early in your life in order to conform to the "norm". You were "born that way" and that is the way that you should be allowed to live as long as you choose to do so. Realizing how difficult high school and early adult years were for you, it seems to me that you have arrived at your adulthood as you should. Enjoy life as it is. You are in charge of your life. Whatever accident of cell division that gave you the body you have today, your genetics are still intact. You have a lot to give to a younger generation.
