I am from NC and conceived there. But thank God I moved to FL when I was 3 months into my pregnancy. I had a doula and 2 midwives. I did all of my prenatal care at The Palms Birth House instead of a regular OBGYN. I chose to be natural bc thats the way its always been meant to be. The US is the only country that teats pregnancy like an illness instead of a miracle. The birth house is safe and has a direct partnership with Boca Reginald Hospital (which advocates natural birth bscrein case of emergency. The birth house does a "high risk" screening before they begin any type of prenatal care. If you are low-risk they train you to prepare for your babybaby's birth the natural way... With water birth being an option for you also. I waa low risk but at 42 weeks my little guy still had not come and my amniotic fluid was drying up so I had to be checked into Boca Reginald Hospital. I was still able to deliver naturally and my midwives were both in the room along with a pro-natural dr. The problem is that drs say they support your choice to be natural but are quick to force interventions down your throat at the first sign of complication. I am supposed to be moving back to NC to marry the man of my dreams, but reading this article makes me 2nd guess settling there. I dont want to have to sneak around... I want to have all of my children the way God intended me to. No drugs, no knives just me, my doula, my midwife, my spouse, my baby and God. Women have been pushing out babies since before men started calling themselves drs. Let the women choose what they want! If something should go wrong then put it on their choice... Just like you would if they were at a hospital with some random dr on call in their room. Let us choose! And midwives make it all possible. I wouldnt want to put anyone in danger but if i should find myself pregnant and in nc i will choose midwifrey any and everyday.
