' A Sign Of The Times of the Carolinas Annual Black History Production , "A Tree Without Roots" features the world renown African American Dance Ensemble founded by Dr. Chuck Davis. The theme is based on a quote by Marcus Moriah Garvey, "a people without the knowledge of their past history, origin and culture is like a tree without roots." The production theme is expressed through the sounds of Jazz, R&B music and the authentic African Dance and drumming of the African American Dance Ensemble.
