A Warning For Free Souls

I’d choose a freedom bare

Over the gilded cage

When debt and despair,

Makes the anthem of an age,

Someplace in my heart,

Like a dust covered prayer,

Lies, desire so bold, so old, so austere,

To relive that sure feeling,

I hold most dear,

It’s the feeling of being known,

For the mark, from our maker,

That is only our own,

To hold out a hand,

For those whom we care,

The feeling to dare,

To live beyond fear,

If we can only remember,

Just how we got here,

Remember that day

When the sky had real air,

And the shadow of a man,

The only man who dared,

Darkened the stone

Of Tiananmen square
