Art: Betwixt and Between exhibit CL Recommends

When: Thu., Jan. 19 2012
UNC Charlotte's College of Arts + Architecture has big plans for the new year and its new home — located in a modern building (with a twist, might I add) Uptown. It all starts with German artist/architect Anna von Gwinner's site-specific video installation, titled Betwixt and Between. The visual's interior is projected with an explosion, while its exterior is projected as a cloud of smoke (passers-by take note — everything is A-OK). In addition to the installation, a new concert series called Fresh Ink — featuring music by composers dipping into multiple genres — kicks off this evening with sounds by Andy Akiho, Kevin Puts, John Allemeier and an ensemble of other musicians. Opening reception for the installation at 6 p.m.; lecture by Anna von Gwinner at 7 p.m.; concert at 8:15 p.m. The exhibit continues through March 15. For more info on Fresh Ink, visit www.freshinkmusic.org. For more info on the College of Arts + Architecture, visit www.coaa.uncc.edu.
