ART: Game Theory exhibition

Friday, Nov. 13

Local artist Antoine Williams is one creative dude. If you haven't seen his mixed media paintings around Charlotte, frequently displayed in exhibitions around town, you've missed out. Williams has also contributed his designs to past issues of Creative Loafing ... and we just know you saw that and thought it was awesome. Either way, show him some support by visiting his new solo exhibition, Game Theory -- which opens tonight -- at Dialect Gallery. Paintings in the exhibition explore ideas related to different perspectives of life and the perusal of happiness and freedom. For more information on Williams, visit www.rawgoods.org. Exhibition continues through Dec. 4. Free. 6 p.m. Dialect Gallery, 3204 N. Davidson St, Ste. C. 704-763-0506. www.dialectdesign.com.

  • On Saturday, Oct. 21, hundreds gathered at Camp North End on Statesville Avenue for Charlotte's first black alternative music festival. We captured some of the bands in action on stage, but mostly we surveyed the grounds as fans, families, vendors and more lounged around the sprawling, colorful Camp North End site. It was a great day of music, food, fun, and sweet, autumn sunshine. (Photos by Mark Kemp)
