Art: God City + Creative Loafing = Counter Culture

Friday, March 7

Creative Loafing has teamed up with the funky, Charlotte-based art collective known as God City to bring you a provocative art exhibition titled Counter Culture.

Counter Culture will display an incredible body of new work created by the God City crew -- and the focus of all the pieces in the show is the media and its impact on the city, the country and the world.

The fun starts at the exhibition's first opening reception. Be sure to stop by to experience music, refreshments, a funky vibe and some thought-provoking works of art. 7 p.m.-11 p.m. The Art House, 3130 Cullman Ave., in NoDa.

  • On Saturday, Oct. 21, hundreds gathered at Camp North End on Statesville Avenue for Charlotte's first black alternative music festival. We captured some of the bands in action on stage, but mostly we surveyed the grounds as fans, families, vendors and more lounged around the sprawling, colorful Camp North End site. It was a great day of music, food, fun, and sweet, autumn sunshine. (Photos by Mark Kemp)
