ART: Masterpieces from the New Orleans Museum of Art exhibition at Mint Museum of Art

Gaze upon a variety of works by big names in the art world, including Edgar Degas, Claude Monet, Pablo Picasso, Camille Pissarro, Pierre-Auguste Renoir and lots of others at Mint Museum of Art's newest exhibition, Masterpieces from the New Orleans Museum of Art. Fees that the NOMA generates by the traveling exhibition will go to its Katrina Recovery Fund. $10-$5; Free for children ages 4 and under. Tuesday, 10 a.m.-9 p.m.; Wednesday-Saturday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; Sunday, 12 p.m.-5 p.m. Mint Museum of Art, 2730 Randolph Rd. 704-337-2000.

  • On Saturday, Oct. 21, hundreds gathered at Camp North End on Statesville Avenue for Charlotte's first black alternative music festival. We captured some of the bands in action on stage, but mostly we surveyed the grounds as fans, families, vendors and more lounged around the sprawling, colorful Camp North End site. It was a great day of music, food, fun, and sweet, autumn sunshine. (Photos by Mark Kemp)
