ART: Metal— morphosis

To some, it might just look like a wacky-shaped dust collector, but true art lovers can appreciate abstract sculptures (like the one in the photo), which was created by James Rosati. His new exhibition titled Simple Lines, Complex Form features sculptures and works on paper. It will be on display at Jerald Melberg Gallery through Nov. 1. Monday-Saturday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Jerald Melberg Gallery, 625 S. Sharon Amity Road. 704-365-3000.

  • On Saturday, Oct. 21, hundreds gathered at Camp North End on Statesville Avenue for Charlotte's first black alternative music festival. We captured some of the bands in action on stage, but mostly we surveyed the grounds as fans, families, vendors and more lounged around the sprawling, colorful Camp North End site. It was a great day of music, food, fun, and sweet, autumn sunshine. (Photos by Mark Kemp)
