ART: Mixed Company

Monday, Oct. 13

Providence Gallery's newest exhibition Mixed Company features two artists whose works could be seen within the realm of art as being just a little mixed-up. But, that's OK. When was normal ever fun? Rod Wimer uses deft melding for the vast monochromatic tones and textures within each of his art pieces. Just take a look at his art piece called Zebra Couture and you'll see what I'm talking about. Meanwhile, Jean Cauthen paints mostly landscapes and other random things (like the popular puppet Pinocchio). You can see the artwork of both of these artists at this exhibition, which continues through Oct. 31. Free. Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Providence Gallery, 601 Providence Road., Ste. A. 704-333-4535. www.providencegallery.net.
