ART: The 2nd Annual Charlotte Fine Art Show

Saturday, Oct. 24

Folks looking for a variety of original art need to look no further than The 2nd Annual Charlotte Fine Art Show. The show, happening at The Park, Oct. 24-25, features juried artists from around the world selling art of all kinds of mediums, including things like paintings, sculptures, photography and other items made from glass, wood, fiber, clay and more. At the show you might learn a thing or two as well, since the Institute for Arts & Education will be providing live art demonstrations for your viewing pleasure. In addition to all that artistic goodnes, Mint Museum of Art will have a booth at the show, showing virtual tours of its future site Uptown. And there'll be so much more. Just be prepared to want to buy something pretty, and based on that train of thought, either bring your purse (cash, credit cards, etc.) or leave it at home. $5; free for ages 12 and under. Oct. 24-25, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. The Park (formerly known as Merchandise Mart), 2500 E. Independence Blvd. 248-685-3748. www.hotworks.org.
