ART: Tonya Gregg exhibit and opening reception

Friday, Jan. 30

Tonya Gregg's new exhibit at the Creative Art Exchange in Cornelius is definitely something to put on the to-do list. Just take one look at her art and you'll see she paints with a fresh, vibrant, colorful, festive style. But, that's not all. Her artwork, which focuses on gender roles and identity within African-American culture, also delves into deep issues like race, class and sexuality. It's no wonder Gregg's art has been exhibited throughout the United States and across the ocean in Germany. Check her stuff out at the Creative Art Exchange through Feb. 28. You can also meet Gregg at the exhibit's opening reception, which goes down today, from 7 p.m.-9 p.m. Free. The Creative Art Exchange, 19725 Oak St. (Cornelius) 704-892-7323.
