Arts: Super Heroes(Con)

Annual comic convention invades Charlotte once again

This summer, the guys from the Charlotte-based comic book shop Heroes Aren't Hard To Find bring back their massive annual festival of comic culture: HeroesCon.

Known for the last 26 years as one of the nation's biggest comic-oriented events, HeroesCon is described on the company's Web site as "the show to go to for a fun, laid-back atmosphere, where people still show up to shop for and talk about comics, and where fans and pros can mix and mingle freely."

This year's edition -- like every year really -- features a ton of guest comic book artists, writers and publishers: Frank Cho (Mighty Avengers, Jungle Girl, Liberty Meadows), David Atchison (Occult Crimes Taskforce), Darwyn Cooke (DC: The New Frontier), David Finch (Moon Knight, New Avengers, Ultimate X-Men), Dan Didio (executive editor, DC Comics), Robert Kirkman (Walking Dead, Ultimate X-Men, Marvel Zombies), David Mack (Kabuki, Daredevil), Ethan Van Sciver (Green Lantern: Rebirth, Superman/Batman) and many, many, many (seriously) more.

Plus, HeroesCon presents a bunch of other comic-themed programming like workshops, panel discussions, art auctions and much, much (no, really) more.
