Ask the editor

Fake questions. Real answers.

Q: Got anything to plug this week?

A: Man, I've always got things to plug. First up, be sure to cast a vote on our Best of Charlotte ballot. Voting for this massive, annual list of the best people, places and thing in the Queen City ends July 28; so, don't pass up this chance to let your voice be heard. The ballot is in this issue on page 25 and online at http://charlotte.creativeloafing.com/bestof.

Secondly, we're gearing up to release our second CD of local music. This one, titled Creative Loafing Presents Jeff Hahne's Homebrew: Summer Stash, is again helmed by music editor Jeff Hahne and features new music -- of all genres -- produced by some of the city's best musicians. Look for this free CD at select retail outlets around town in late August. For more info, e-mail Jeff at jeffrey.hahne@creativeloafing.com.

In addition, Moodswing columnist Hollis Gillespie is set to release her third book, Trailer Trashed -- featuring more real-life tales from her very bizarre real life. If you like the column, you'll love the book. Trailer Trashed hits bookstores Aug. 1. Buy it. Oh, and her next Shocking Real Life Writing Seminar, conducted by Hollis herself, goes down on Aug. 24. To sign up, visit www.hollisgillespie.com.

And lastly, I'm hosting another Editor's Guide to Freelance Writing workshop this Saturday (June 26) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Pura Vida Worldly Art (1521 Central Ave.). For more information and/or to register, call 704-335-8587 or visit www.puravidaart.com.
