Azucar: A Caribbean Celebration

When: Fri., June 1, 7 p.m. 2012
Price: $10-$15
The atmosphere is getting sweet over at Neighborhood Theatre. Why? It's time for The Latin American Coalition's Azucar (for those who don’t know, the literal translation is "sugar"): A Caribbean Celebration. The event, in its third year, honors the diverse islands of the oh-so-relaxing Caribbean (Bahamas, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Barbados, Aruba, Puerto Rico, to name a few). Though we'd rather be lying on a beach there, the next best thing is partying with Caribbean transplants who now live in Charlotte. Traditional dancing and live music performances of salsa, Cuban Son and Dominican merengue are on the evening’s agenda. In addition, there will also be vendors selling handmade arts and crafts and Spanish-Caribbean cuisine. Looks like you can have your mojito and drink it, too.
