Kudos to Cuisine Malaya, Charlotte’s — and the region’s — singular outpost of Malaysian cuisine, for withstanding the onslaught of Charlotte’s transportation department and city planners with the tracks to nowhere closing of Elizabeth Avenue. Our favorite dishes at Malaya are the roti canai starter — curry laced with chicken and bits of potato — and the beef rendang entrée. The menu has been expanded to include sushi and other Asian dishes.
