Most Charlotte nightclubs are content with just playing standard pop and/or hip-hop tunes, but since opening to the public during this past year, HOM has garnered a reputation for going against the musical grain. With a semi-regular team of local DJs like D.R., Buddy, That Guy Smitty and Johnnie Davis (among others), and visits by some of the nations top record jocks, HOM has been able to hone a sound that blends house, jazz, Afrobeat, funk and a ton of other noncommercial stuff. Audiences may not always respond to the sonic risks undertaken at the club, but were glad the folks at HOM have the balls to go out on a limb.
