BEST FILM SERIES
NoDa Film Festival

Staff Pick

Here’s what’s been happening with the 2-1/2-year-old NoDa Film Festival since we started working on the previous year’s Best of Charlotte issue: Last June, the outfit presented The Art of Animation, featuring (among other treats) rare Looney Tunes shorts, the Oscar-winning Wallace & Gromit gem The Wrong Trousers, and Jan Svankmajer’s brilliant, puppet-animated oddity Alice In Wonderland. Last August, they hosted a Charles Burnett retrospective, with participation by the filmmaker himself. This past March, they produced the Sound + Vision Film Festival, with bands providing background music for various films. And three months ago, they screened the acclaimed BBC documentary The Century of the Self. And here’s what’s happening with the organization now: Nothing, as sponsorship is sorely needed to present any future innovative projects. To help out in any way, go to www.nodafilmfestival.org.
