After a few reboots, the 7th Street Pubic Market is finally coming into its own by selling local and regional products. The market now offers produce, meat and fish markets; artisanal chocolates; sushi; baked goods from Cloud 9 Confections and Novel Sweets; a raw food bar; a coffeehouse; and a tea shop. Baker Adam Spears shows how much can happen between two slices of bread at his Local Loaf while Pure Pizza uses a variety of doughs, including sprouted wheat and gluten-free. Orrman's Cheese Shop not only sells artisanal cheeses - many of them made in North Carolina - but also makes a variety of grown-up grilled cheese sandwiches, including the oozing gouda layered with preserved walnuts and shallot confit on thinly sliced sourdough bread.
