Bizarre crime from Charlotte police files (April 30)

Stolen lunchables and more

Sounds Like A Movie Plot: A 41-year-old woman enters a north Charlotte Walmart and places her iPhone 4s in the cart as she goes shopping. On her way out of the store, she's stopped by a greeter who checks her receipt. By the time she reaches her car, she notices her cellphone missing — and remembers she looked away from her cart while talking to the greeter. The woman retraces her steps but doesn't see the phone in the cart and it wasn't turned in to customer service. Later that night, she is contacted by someone stating that he has the phone and asks the woman to come to his home to retrieve it. In the meantime, she traces her phone to a different address. :::cue dramatic music:::

Perhaps It Was The Easter Bunny: In early April, someone walked into a Kangaroo one morning and placed a box of Sour Spray candy and a box of Push Pops in her purse and then left the store. ... that is not the breakfast of champions.

... And This Isn't A Good Dinner: Two suspects walked into a Compare Foods on the east side and concealed a bottle of Tropicana Orange Juice and an Oscar Meyer Lunchables Pack in their clothing and walked out of the store. The items were valued at less than $5 — total.

It's Spring... In Charlotte: A 28-year-old man phoned police after someone broke into his east Charlotte storage unit and stole a pair of dark gray ski boots valued at $200.

Running From The Law: Unknown suspects walked into a University-area Dick's Sporting Goods store and stole a dozen Fitbit sports watches. Perhaps they wanted to know how many calories they burned stealing more than $1,500 worth of sporting goods?

Wicker Man: A 29-year-old north Charlotte man phoned police after he noticed someone had stolen a $200 brown wicker coffee table from outside of his home. Who knew wicker would still be popular?

Blotter items are chosen from the files of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
