Bizarre crime from Charlotte police files (May 8) 

All bark, no bite

Training wheels: An officer pulled over a white Cadillac with an expired tag and found a cocky, if inexperienced, driver behind the wheel. The driver lied about his birth year before admitting he was only 14. He told officers that his mother was aware that he was out driving and had told him to be home before dark. Police called her to the scene and issued her a citation before returning the boy to her custody.

All Bark, No Bite: Police officers got involved in an altercation at Hickory Grove Elementary School after it turned into something serious. Three 11-year-old girls were written up for assaulting each other after a verbal argument did not get to the root of the problem. The girls began hitting and throwing tree bark at each other before being separated and told to ... leaf.

Ruff stuff: A 57-year-old woman was hospitalized and released after she was bitten in the face by a service dog at an assisted-living community in south Charlotte.

Risky Business: Police responded to a 7-Eleven on South Boulevard after a man allegedly walked into the business with a ski mask on and an axe in his hand. He brandished the axe toward an employee before leaving the business on foot. In an unrelated incident, police and SWAT responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call on Eastway Drive after an employee of a Super Lube inspection station allegedly entered the building and fired an AK-47. The road was closed for more than an hour as law enforcement investigated whether the incident was an ongoing hostage situation. The man was later charged with discharging a firearm in city limits along with other drug charges.

Juvenile attention: Following a disturbing trend, a 12-year-old girl filed a police report last week after a nude photo she sent of herself to a friend of the same age was immediately uploaded to Facebook. In an unrelated incident, police responded to a park in northeast Charlotte after witnesses reported seeing a man sitting at a bench watching kids play until they would go home, at which time he would allegedly walk behind them until they reached their house.

Just Checking: An officer at Northridge Middle School filed a report after a student overstepped his boundaries. The officer reported that the suspect purposefully touched the handle of his firearm while he was supervising students in the bus lot. He added that there was no intent to remove the firearm from the holster.

Teed off: A 24-year-old man was taken to the hospital with serious injuries after he was stabbed in the neck with a broken golf club during an altercation in front of an east Charlotte home. Two of his friends said they were also assaulted by the same man, whom none of them claimed to know, but they refused medical treatment.
