Bizarre crimes from Charlotte police files

CAVEMAN TACTICS: A 42-year-old man was arguing with a lady friend in the middle of the street. She became so irate that she picked up a big-ass stick, caveman-style, and starting whaling on him. The man said the two are just friends and have never dated.

NOT-SO-SLICK THIEF: A Wal-Mart employee said a shopper picked up a Norelco electric razor worth $78.54 and stuck it in a bag. The man then went to the customer service desk, where he claimed that he had purchased the razor and wanted to return it. The cashier gave him a gift card in exchange. The man thought his plan worked perfectly, but when he exited the store with gift card in hand he was arrested.

PUNK'D, badly: A 34-year-old woman said she was swindled out of $2,500 at an Exxon gas station. A person she didn't know approached her trying to sell her name brand perfume at a discounted price. The woman decided she could buy a bunch of the perfume and sell it at a higher price later. She gave the person the money, but the person never returned with the perfume.

More Wal-Mart Drama: An employee at Wal-Mart said a man came into the store and attempted to receive money from a money gram. When the cashier denied him money because the authorization number on the money gram showed that he already received the money, the man got pissed. He picked up several items including a watch and a 12-pack of Coca-Cola and started throwing and breaking them. He then left the scene.

THREAT OF THE WEEK: A 21-year-old woman said she received harassing and threatening phone calls a foe. She said the person made their intentions frighteningly clear by saying, "I am going to come and shoot up your mother f***ing house."

Blotter items are chosen from the files of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
