Canceled Flights

If US Airways goes belly-up, do you think it will affect you?

Grace Lipscomb
Commodities Broker

"You mean, other than new businesses deciding to go somewhere else because they couldn't get as many non-stop flights, and the local economy grinding to a halt or maybe collapsing? No, I guess not."

Earl Spencer
Auto Mechanic

"A lot of those damn planes fly right over my neighborhood so I'll tell you flat out, I'd love it."

Laurie Heinz
C.P.A.

"Yeah, I'd really miss being treated like cattle on all those uncomfortable flights."

Phil Sossman
Radio Engineer

"It would make the stupid airline flight jokes by so-called "personalities' at a certain radio station I won't name seem even lamer than usual. Ironically, that would be funny."

  • On Saturday, Oct. 21, hundreds gathered at Camp North End on Statesville Avenue for Charlotte's first black alternative music festival. We captured some of the bands in action on stage, but mostly we surveyed the grounds as fans, families, vendors and more lounged around the sprawling, colorful Camp North End site. It was a great day of music, food, fun, and sweet, autumn sunshine. (Photos by Mark Kemp)
