Charlotte Music Awards scheduled for Nov. 20 

The 2nd Annual Charlotte Music Awards will be held on Nov. 20 at the Booth Playhouse in the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center.

The event, which will be emceed by local radio personality Chuck Boozer, will present lifetime achievement awards to Maurice Williams & The Zodiacs, Nantucket and the Double Door Inn. Last year's recipients of the honor were Arthur Smith, The Marshall Tucker Band and Reflection Studios.

A new award this year, the Reliable Music Award of Special Recognition, will be given to The Spongetones.

The bands scheduled to perform at this year's ceremony are South 85, Tropic Culture, Contagious Blues Band, Luna's Lament, St. James Gospel Choir, Thistle Down Tinkers, Jared Allen, Smokey Joe Show and Angwish.

The event will start with red carpet festivities at 5:45 p.m. followed by the awards ceremony at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15 and $20, or VIP for $50. For more information, go to www.charlottemusicawards.org.
