Stripping down his songs from the past quarter century — including works with Soundgarden, Audioslave, Temple of the Dog and solo material — Chris Cornell brings along a few guitars, his voice and the words from his continuing songbook on this solo acoustic tour. He’s still got the long-admired songwriting chops, and here he turns down the amps and sings faves with just his howl and nimble guitar plucking. This Songbook Tour, named for the just-released live album of the same name, also finds Cornell mixing in covers, including some that will likely make his fans scratch the old noggin. Probably the closest thing to a consolation gig for the Soundgarden show — from this past summer at Carolina Rebellion — that fans missed because weather cancelled their set at the last minute.
