The whole idea became to big too fast. I love/loved DMB. I have seen him in the tiny hole in the wall bar for years before it was "OMG Dave Matthews IS GOD" While I celebrate his success for him. But, It took away the personal "little secret awesome band" us fans held on to. And became, OMG I have to sit online, with my finger on the order button, at the exact time tickets go on sale or I won't be able to see the DMB concert. Sell out? Not really, aren't all artists in it to be successful? Of course they are. So, from this fans pov, it's that I have grown to hate the 'bandwagon' fans and thus I no longer spend much time or energy attending the concerts anymore. Now that they are getting into a 'senior band' kind of status, the crowds of yesteryears are maturing, more and more true dedicated fans are attending again, myself included on a rare occasion that someone has an extra ticket. As far as why other people hate them, I feel it's a similar explination, they came outta no where to BOOM! And many don't want to be bandwagon jumpers so they choose to just say they 'hate' without any substantial reasoning.
