COMEDY: John Heffron at McGlohon Theatre

Wednesday, Aug. 26

Comedian John Heffron is one funny guy. He can twist everyday occurances -- like bar encounters, marriage and getting older -- into humorous stories and rants that you just can't help laughing at. That's probably why he won the second season of NBC's Last Comic Standing in 2004. Originally from Detroit, Heffron's latest DVD, titled Middle Class Funny, was released on Aug. 4. It will re-air on Comedy Central on Sept. 10. But, screw that -- the wait is too long, don't ya think? Why wait for it when you could just go see the man himself when he is in Charlotte and the surrouning area for two shows. The Comedy Zone and Blumenthal Performing Arts Center will present a special show with Heffron at McGlohon Theatre on Aug. 26. And, on Aug. 25, he'll also be performing at Lake Norman Comedy Zone in Galway Hooker Irish Pub in Cornelius. Go see him. I guarantee he'll have you laughing in no time. Aug. 25: $20. Doors open at 7 p.m. and show starts at 8 p.m. Lake Norman Comedy Zone at Galway Hooker Irish Pub, 17044 Kenton Dr. 704-895-1782.; Aug. 26: $20 and up. 7:30 p.m. McGlohon Theatre, 345 N. College St. 704-372-1000.
