For musician John Mellencamp, livin' in a "small town," provides little opportunity, but for stand-up comedian Jon Reep it has made all the difference in the world. He might be a Southerner living in L.A. now, but most of his jokes, (which led to his win on NBC's Last Comic Standing) revolve around him growing up in Hickory, N.C. From his stories of "The" Burger King to jumpin' over Wal-Mart sprinklers, Reep will have you laughing right out of your seat. The Comedy Zone presents two shows with Reep at McGlohon Theatre. $25. 7:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. McGlohon Theatre, 345 N. College St. 704-372-1000. www.blumenthalcenter.org.
