Cracking Sugar Plums

Sunday, December 2

Welcoming dancers ages eight to eighteen for the opportunity of a lifetime has been the goal of the Charlotte Youth Ballet. Their mission of "introduc[ing] ballet to diverse audiences fostering a lifelong support of the arts" is the driving force. They celebrate 25 years with this production: Charlotte Youth Ballet Nutcracker. You remember the story of young Clara who cannot sleep after a very exciting Christmas Eve party where she finds the perfect gift -- a nutcracker. What happens later can only be described as must-see to believe. 2:30 p.m. $16-$20. Halton Theater, CPCC, 1201 Elizabeth Ave. 704-330-6534. www.charlotteyouthballet.com.
