Greensboro, NC | Crossroads: Pathways to Success celebrated its 10th Annual Turkey Drive Saturday. The students packed and delivered turkey boxes consisting of corn, greens beans, potatoes, and cranberry sauce to nearly 50 families in Greensboro. The group partnered with the Salvation Army Teen Center.

Crossroads: Pathways to Success, Inc. was established to encourage young men to pursue personal goals through education and meaningful interactions. The Program utilizes a diverse range of educational techniques focusing on educating students not only through a traditional classroom setting but through real life experiences as well. Crossroads hopes to establish a global sense of unity where the importance and value of another individual is acknowledged. The founders have set out to garner a role in the community as educational motivators and role models, establishing a path-to-success for students and potential leaders of the future to follow.

Every student should have the opportunity to begin a successful career path through advanced education, identification of career options that interest them, and a strategy to help them achieve their career objectives.

Crossroads: Pathways to Success offers FREE workshops every Saturday from 12:00 pm - 3:30 pm during the academic school year on the following topics:

  • College Preparation Information (applications, financial aid, student life)
  • Impression management
  • Interview Skills
  • Dressing for Success
  • Proper Rules of Etiquette
  • Community Service
  • Technology trends in the 21st Century
  • Full Court Basketball Fitness
  • Community Service Events

The founders of Crossroads encourage that students take responsibility for the direction of their life path and they proudly work with fellow community leaders to help students learn to make a commitment to work toward their own success.

This active approach has proved successful for program participants.

*Over 100 students have gone through this program, achieving a 100% college acceptance rate!

*In an annual participant review, Crossroads students earned higher grades, skipped fewer classes and fewer days of school, and felt more competent to do their schoolwork. (The statistics were based on an analysis tool created by Public/Private ventures, surveys from students, and testimonials from parents.)

In 2019, Crossroads was a member of the inaugural class of the Future Fund where 10 non-profits were selected to present their program in front of a crowd of 300 for prizes. Crossroads was awarded 3rd place overall and The Community Award. The organization also launched a 2nd branch of students in Winston-Salem and partnered with Guilford County to start an after school pilot program. In 2020 they plan to explore options in the juvenile detention system and create partnerships with local colleges.

More about Crossroads

Crossroads: Pathways to Success is a 501-c3 non-profit and was established in 2009 by two young men who were both born and raised in Greensboro. These two renaissance men are committed to supporting the community that they love so dearly. The co-founders, Executive Director Gerard Truesdale and Program Director Arturo McKie created Crossroads to help guide and educate our future leaders. Through establishing a role in the community as educational motivators and role models Truesdale and Mckie offer students a real understanding of what it takes to be successful in professional and personal life. During the 24 week program, students will complete sessions dedicated to each of the focus areas. Sessions will include activities, lectures, role play, career experts and much more to help build their skills throughout their participation in the program.
