DANCE: NCDT's A Night At The Movies

Fri., March 13

North Carolina Dance Theatre's newest production A Night At The Movies opens today. But the show isn't anywhere close to a normal night at the movies. Instead, it features special dance works by three choreographers (all of whom have created dance works set to different movies), including Mark Diamond (whose piece was inspired by the 1934 movie Death Takes A Holiday), Nicolo Fonte (whose piece was inspired by films including Psycho, The Birds and Vertigo by Alfred Hitchcock) and Dwight Rhoden (whose piece was inspired by the 1958 movie Cat on a Hot Tin Roof). The show is recommended for mature audiences, due to themes of violence and sexuality. $25-$69. March 13-14, 8 p.m. Booth Playhouse, 130 N. Tryon St. 704-372-1000. www.ncdance.org.
