I was there too, with my wife. Rockpile was GREAT with the hottest "I KNEW THE BRIDE WHEN SHE USED TO ROCK & ROLL." One thing not mentioned was Van tried uselessly to play his sax, hitting a barrage of wrong notes that were out of key. I remember him looking at the audience and saying FUCK YOU before his last exit. His band kept playing and the lights went on and a lot of pissed off people were throwing things at the stage and yelling. That was my first and last VM concert. Funny thing, the next day he did a live interview on WNEW-FM and sounded sober promoting his WAVELENGTH album.
