Dolcetto Wine Room

Ever wanted to have a "love affair with wine"? According to Jeffry McNeice, owner of Dolcetto Wine Room in SouthPark, it was that affair that seduced his family to open up this new business. This weekend is their grand opening, complete with a wine tasting Sept. 26 and two days of "Charity Wine Flights," where 100 percent of the proceeds goes to the Charlotte-based charity Alexander Youth Network.

While Dolcetto Wine Room offers a few light appetizers and desserts, the sole purpose is wine. They offer at least 70 different wines by glass and about 245 by the bottle. "Our philosophy is a Starbucks for wine with a Cheers atmosphere," McNeice says. "We want people to sit around and talk. Wine is a very social drink."

Location: 4625 Piedmont Row Drive, near SouthPark Mall

Hours: Monday-Thursday, 11 a.m.-10 p.m., Friday 11 a.m.-1 a.m., Saturday 3 p.m.-1 a.m. and Sunday 3 p.m.-9 p.m.

  • On Saturday, Oct. 21, hundreds gathered at Camp North End on Statesville Avenue for Charlotte's first black alternative music festival. We captured some of the bands in action on stage, but mostly we surveyed the grounds as fans, families, vendors and more lounged around the sprawling, colorful Camp North End site. It was a great day of music, food, fun, and sweet, autumn sunshine. (Photos by Mark Kemp)
